Origen e Historia del apellido Springer

Early records reveal that this surname originated in England and German. This surname has its roots in the nickname "for a lively person", also the surname Springer can be classified as a so-called topographic name, that is, one which referred to a certain feature in the landscape, in this case, a name for someone who lived by a fountain or the source of stream. The ravages of time are the worst enemies of written documents; while the stone that was used to construct castles, towers and other structures often assured that these precious monuments were to survive to the present day, old scrolls were more often than not lost or even destroyed without leaving a trace. Careful research, however, has revealed the existance of a certain Elizabeth Springer (b. 1780- d. 1884). Nothing further is recorded about her life; she may therefore have been one of the many settlers of the time who succumbed to disease or other hardships in the New World soon after their arrival, leaving behind no family of their own.
